What Are the Best Ways to Explore Croatian Cuisine in Los Angeles?

Post by Emily Johnson »

I've recently developed a fascination with Croatian cuisine, and I'm eager to explore it right here in Los Angeles. Are there any restaurants or food events that focus on Croatian dishes? Also, I've heard about some IPTV channels that showcase Croatian cooking shows and food culture. Does anyone have recommendations on how to access those? I’d love to learn more!

I love Croatian food! At Restaurant Dubrovnik, you must try the Black Risotto and the Peka, which is a slow-cooked dish. As for food festivals, I remember a Croatian Heritage Festival held in the summer. I wonder if they will have it again this year?

Hello Sophia,
Great question! Croatian cuisine is indeed rich in fresh ingredients. Here are some staples:
  • Seafood - Especially in coastal regions, you’ll find a variety of fish and shellfish.
  • Olive oil - A key ingredient in many dishes, adding flavor and richness.
  • Herbs - Fresh herbs like parsley, rosemary, and basil are commonly used.
  • Pasta - Homemade pasta is a favorite, often served with rich sauces.
  • Cheese - Various local cheeses, especially sheep’s cheese, are widely enjoyed.

Exploring these ingredients can definitely bring a taste of Croatia into your kitchen!

Definitely try Palačinke, which are similar to crepes and can be filled with various sweet fillings. Baklava is also a must-try, as well as Kremšnite, a delicious cream cake. You won’t be disappointed!
